at least now thanks to your help I'm starting to be able to tell the difference. it was still fun trying to determine what it was.

It's important to note the MD on the mintmark. On the big deal DDO, the mintmark likely would not be doubled. It is possible, but seeing that is the first step in determining what you have.

The important thing to know about MD is that it can only really impersonate insignificant doubled dies. The especially valuable ones like the 1955 and 1969-S have such disparate doubling that MD could not even possibly replicate them.
