Thanks for making this statement. I'm a bit tired of hearing explanations of what was done back in 1922 when I suspect no one really knows. Kind of reminds me of a statement in a book called Looking Through Lincoln Cents about this coin where it is stated "because there is no official record of the error, as there is no official record of any error".
