please see pics of coin for edging that is silver and in good shape but the rear of coin over Mississippi is stamped and edge is raised.

looks like the coin was heated. causing the metal to start to melt.

@em, first welcome to CCF. Second, the rim of this coin has been damaged. As @sw said, it might have been selectively heated until melting, although there are other potential explanations as well. In any case, your coin did not leave the mint looking like this.

yes it is odd. it does look like it was heated with pit marks over mississippi. it almost looks like the silver is dripping or was stuck to another item then pulled off.

Yep, it is damaged, probably by high temperatures.

It's just a heavily damaged coin,not an error. It's only worth face value.
