The owner will be happy to hear it! You wouldn't happen to know a good online resource for Kennedy halves similar to maybe coppercoinscom would you 1796? Many thanks for your reply!

Not halves in particular, but check out http://www.varietyvista.com. Apparently there are NINETEEN '64-D DDOs... good luck man.

Definitely a Doubled Die Obverse. Although we'll need more pictures to determine what Doubled Die number it is. There's also a lot of Doubled Working Hub Doubled Dies known for this year also.

Tough call on which one it is. There are a lot of DDO's that are not doubled dies on Wexler's site:
http://www.doubleddie.com/1598998.html
Hard to ID with just one image. The missing ones and the non DDO's makes it hard to match up:

Quote:

Since WMDO-001 is only on P-Mint proof coins, there are no D-Mint examples of WMDO-001 and the D-Mint listings begin with WMDO-002.

It may be the -002, but clear full-coin pics will help.

Doubled die for sure, need photos of the full coin and other devices to attribute it.

But the doubling could be from a doubled master die or a doubled working hub. So more information is need to see what it is for sure. Keep it safe for now.

Here are a few more....not sure if the FG on this is standard. Possible that this is a Denver proof mistake as well?

Your half dollar is the CONECA listed 64D DDO-003/RPM-006. If you check out Variety Vista and the CONECA Master Listings you can see the mint mark matches the 64D RPM-006, http://varietyvista.com/12%20Kenned...4DRPM006.htm, and the doubling matches the 64D DDO-003, http://varietyvista.com/12%20Kenned...4DDDO003.htm. I can also see the DDO-003 marker, die scratches south-southwest around B of LIBERTY in your photo, http://varietyvista.com/Variety%20M....htm#_1964-D
