Hello, I've received a 2001 Vermont State Quarter in some change & would like your opinion on this coin, it's really different looking

To CCF! It's not an error coin. It's just a well circulated Quarter with damage and stains. It's Post Strike Damage ( PSD), meaning that this happened after it left the U.S. Mint. It's only worth face value.

@lisa66, first welcome to CCF. Second your quarter is damaged, perhaps as a result of being immersed in a corrosive liquid like soda with another quarter partially stacked on top. Regardless of the exact reason, you can safely spend this coin.

Stained coin, probably from a car coffee holder. Post minting damage, not a mint error.

What are you looking for as errors? A damaged coin is not an error. We cover many subject here.
