We'll need close ups of your coin, on the obverse and reverse, so we can see why so much weight was shaved off of your coin.

I'm suspecting that it was dipped in acid, causing the coin to lose some of its density, explaining why a significant amount of weight was shaved off.

Looks acid eaten, that would explain a bit of loss, I don.t get hung up unless .4gr difference, then may have a thin or split planchet.

well my opinion, is that if the loss of weight was for acid was on the edge of the coin but do not show, that is intact

Looks to me like a normal 1944 issue, beat up and likely with environmental damage.
