Yet another fur cap from the classic US commemorative series. This time it's the 1925 Vancouver Centennial half dollar. The Fort Vancouver Centennial half dollar was struck to mark the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Fort Vancouver on the north side of the Columbia River in what is now Vancouver, Washington (just north of Portland, Oregon). The fort served as a trading post for the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) which administered Britain's interests in the area; the area was jointly occupied by British and American frontiersmen, trappers and settlers. 1925 Vancouver Centennial Half Dollar Check out my previous posts on the Vancouver half dollar at Read More: Commems Collection

Here's the 2013 US commemorative silver dollar that commemorated the centennial of the organization. The youngest scout - a Brownie - is wearing the official Brownie Beanie (leftmost scout on the obverse).

Here's another commemorative half dollar from the US' classic series - the Battle of Gettysburg coin. The coin was issued to mark the 75th anniversary of the deadly battle and depicts conjoined portraits of representative Union and Confederate soldiers - each wearing a hat. 1936 Battle of Gettysburg Half Dollar I've previously posted about the Gettysburg commemorative, you can find one post here: 1936 Battle of Gettysburg Half Dollar. The Arkansas Statehood Centennial Half Dollar offers up a double helping of hats/head gear. On the coin's obverse, Miss Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with "LIBERTY" while the Native American chief wears a full feather headdress. It's time to talk "fancy hat!" Here's the 1938 New Rochelle commemorative half dollar which celebrates the 250th anniversary of the town's settlement. Lord Pell is wearing quite the hat in Gertrude Lathrop's depiction of him receiving the annual "fatted calfe" from the town folks! 1938 New Rochelle Half Dollar You can learn more about the coin here: 1938 New Rochelle Half Dollar and here: 1938 New Rochelle RevisitedTo read more about US commemorative coins: Read More: Commems Collection
