That's not a Die Clash. That's actually called Progressive Indirect Design Transfer, caused by a worn die issue. It was pretty common on the Wheat Cents. http://www.error-ref.com/progressiv...gn-transfer/

Struck from a very tired set of dies. Not a plus for the coin. More of high circulation and VLDS (Very-Late-Die State) coin. It is still a hole filler until you get a better coin. Very low grade coin.

I see this constantly on the mid 40's wheats with their billions mintages, it's pretty common on anything before that, and I've only seen it on wheat cents. Just due to wasted dies.

The reason it was seen more often on the wheat reverse than the memorial was the lack of a large central design on the wheat .
With fewer details to fill in the center of the design, more of the force of the strike was transfered to the die itself each time.
This is the reason this phenomenon does not show on the obverse . The central bust fills to cushion the blow.

thats really cool...well, learning something that is. Very very interesting and informative. Thank you guys, seriously...I thought because it "seemed" as though the obverse was visible on the reverse that thats what it had to be. Welp, thank all of you...learn something new every day.
