Hi I'm new to this but just wanted some opinions or if anyone knew why these coins are struck like this and are they considered a error coin? 1776-Quarter-And-A-1967-Dime

These coins were both cut into with wire cutters or something like that, you can tell because the metal is bent and displaced, so it happened after the strike.

To CCF! It's Post Strike Damage ( PSD). They are both only worth face value, since they're both just heavily damaged.

Post minting damage, not an error. Also, that's a 1976 quarter - not 1776.

If you need to test them, a coin in your pocket is a convenient test article.

They way we can tell? Not the affected areas are extending out past to the edge of the coin. A sure sign they were altered.
