In 2028 the Morgan dollar will be 150 years old. Would you like to see a reissue in either gold or silver? Maybe both? How much over spot do you think would be reasonable to pay? Which of the five mintmarks would you like to see used? Perhaps a set of five with all five? Maybe they could issue coins that are uncirculated, proof, reverse proof, matte finish. Lots of possibilities here.

No interest. Look at what the mint did for 50th anniversary of Kennedy -- the sets are selling for less than issue price. Mint has a history of modern losers over time. With Morgans selling under $20 bucks why not just buy them?

I'm not a fan of issuing coins to commemorate other coins - I just don't see the point. The Royal Canadian Mint does it on a regular basis and, while generally well done, I always ask "Why?" If the Mint is forced to issue such a commemorative, maybe they could use one of the Morgan dollar patterns instead of the issued design. At least that would make the coins seem less like a simple design rehash. That said, I wonder if the Mint will still be issuing collector coins in 2028?

with commems ~ I am not a fan. Issuing coins to commemorate other coins seems senseless. One day we would have a coin to celebrate each and every coin. It seems to me that it takes away from the original coins. I am not sure why it feels that way but it is the first thought that goes through my mind.

The 100 year anniversary of the Peace dollar is rapidly approaching so this should be a good indicator based on what is (or is not) done commemorating it. Even though I'm more of a Morgan dollar collector over Peace dollars, I think commemorating the Peace would be more notable.

I can go either way on it to be honest. I will say that I would not be as excited about a Morgan as I would a Peace. I would prefer it as a silver dollar because the gold does not interest me. Oh, what if they use the ASE blanks instead of standard dollars? A bigger Morgan for you.

I funded the first four or so years after retirement by selling Morgans...I love that coin...but I picked freedom over love..
