Looks like a stain rather than another mintmark.
Also, that is HARSHLY cleaned. If it was a D/S it wouldn't be worth anything anymore.
If you have to get some dirt of an old penny, use 100% acetone and/or VerdiCare. Don't clean it like that again.

Your cleaning of the coin is the vehicle that proves what you see is not a punched S mintmark. Had it been an S mintmark punch used in this spot on the obverse die then it would be a raised feature on the coin just like the Denver mintmark that is there. Therefore you would have shined the high parts of the S. What you see is dark, not a shined copper. It's most likely a bit of corrosion in an S shape.

Cleaning? It looks like it was scrubbed with a Brillo Pad and Comet Cleanser!
Olive oil, acetone or VerdiCare, along with a tooth pick or cotton swab, would have been a much better choice.
Looks like some kinda post mint damage.

Damage/stained, not a D/S. Wow, you really polished that thing. In the future, just soak coins in 100% Acetone, don't clean them like that.

Thanks to all for the information. I no I rubbed the crap out of this coin. I thought I saw something under the "gunk" and had to look. I know I'm not supposed to clean the coins but I wanted to see if there was anything there. I'm in this for the fun of collecting knowing I wont be making any money but I do understand and appreciate you all telling me not to chance destroying a potential treasure.....thank you again.

It of course is your coin to do as you wish but it will probably be around long after we are all gone and we are but caretakers of our collections for those that are to come.

If it were an over mint mark, it would be raised from the surface of the coin like the mint mark. This event was on the fields of the coin. A stain or discoloration. Not an OMM. If it were a variety coin, you just turned it into one cent. Never clean a variety coin. Ask first before tampering with a coin. Doing the wrong thing ruins any value it had.

You can keep it still, but throw it into your cull coin pile.
Errers and Varietys.
