The SBA seems to be the only coin here going for an exorbitant price. Am I missing something with it? Does it have a special significance that isn't listed in the Heritage lot, like he took it to space with him?

WADR to the Armstrong family,it is a case of "buy the coin not the holder". Same with the book, the coin and the book come with a certificate. You are really paying the premium for the certificate.

One thing you have to consider on these things as well. This is the Armstrong FAMILY collection. Not everything being offered belonged to Neal Armstrong. For example I noticed some of the articles are provenances to an S. K. Armstrong. I would be concerned that some of the family members are cashing in on their common stuff by capitalizing on Neil's name.

Personally I think for the family to auction off personal items of Neil's is rather tacky. He should have a museum with all of this stuff displayed.

I never understood "celebrity" items like this. I don't want a coin owned or held by anyone famous - even if it is or were the first this that or the other thing. To each his own, but I hope that whoever bought that SBA really likes it. I'm not sure how well that price tag will mature.
