This coin has obvious scratches, especially obverse. I'm wondering what viewers think of the details aspect. I assume that scratches would greatly hurt its value. If it were problem-free I assume it would be fairly rare. Thanks.

Pretty good.

Some frictional wear but the vertical pearls are above par and all of George's head and cloak detail are good.
Shield, banner and date detail are all pleasing.

As hypothetical: if it were a problem free example on the current market and were assigned a TPG of AU53/55 it retails for 300-400 with premium MS examples up to about 2,000.

So to your specific question - it has nice detail and quite a pity it's been mistreated. Scarce in higher grades.

I believe so rarer in high grades but generally just scarce. As opposed to 1915h and 1932 key dates due to low mintage. Has a higher percentage premium in higher grades (survival rate seem low) as most either melted or those that have been kept not kept properly.

Hello.

It is generally held that 1914h, 1915 (London), and 1932 are the keydates.

I only collect keydates, and have found the 1915 no mintmark London florin to be the hardest to source in nice grades [au53 up].

1915 is definitely worth more than 1915h and much tougher to find in decent grades.

In high MS grades, many believe the 1912 is the rarest Florin date and some evidence does support that claim. 1913's in nice condition are also desirable.

1915h is the holy grail for shillings however and imo harder to find than either the 1933 or 1921 star, and also harder than the scarce 1915 London.

I'm now extremely cautious with all purchases due to the recent transfer die counterfeit controversy - which is still speculative and remains a cold case.

With the exception of 1916 which are oddly common, pretty much any teenage date Australian predecimal silver coin in high grade is desirable.

Cheers
