Hi. I am still going through my bucket of coins I inherited and would like some information on this coin. When I took some of these to a dealer he said to leave them. I obviously didn't and then he offered a thousand for all them. This is one of the ones I took in.

Okay the die crack is easy to spot on this. I cannot tell if it is step or not, but I think not. Is there doubling on the first 1 in 1917. I do not see any on the S but I am not sure about the 1917 date and the WE is funny looking.

Reverse shows either damage or a lamination. If this is what you are calling a die crack, it doesn't look like that from what I see.

How can I tell the difference. I am going to sell some and I don't want to cheat anyone or tell them wrong.

I thought since the O in ONE follows the crack and looks like a Q it was not damage but done during minting.

That line on the reverse looks like a peeling lamination. It's at the same angle as the streaking near the bottom reverse. The coin was struck on a bad planchet.
