It looks like Machine Doubling on the last picture.

The non-SMS DDO for 1966 (FS-101) has a diagnostic die crack that runs from the right side of the 6 to the right lower leg of the R in TRUST, and clear doubling on the motto.

The SMS version (with prooflike surfaces, FS-103) has a doubled profile. This is my PCGS slabbed & attributed '66 SMS FS-103.

Looking at the images that John Wexler has up for the 1966 half dollars even get more confusing. The WDDO-013, and 014 both shows doubling for a working die hubs, on top of the the real doubled dies for the 13 & 14.

Quote:

1966 50¢ SMS WDDO-013 "Best Of" Variety

Description: A Class V CW spread from a pivot at about 5:00 shows on the LIB of LIBERTY, the front curl of hair, and the upper hair details. This variety also shows the doubling from WWHO-002.

1966 50¢ SMS WDDO-014 "Best Of" Variety

Description: A Class V CW spread from a pivot at about 1:00 shows on the LI of LIBERTY, IN GOD WE, and the date. This variety also shows the doubling from WWHO-001.

So save the working hub doubling examples until these get all sorted out. Slabs were made before the finding of the doubled working hubs issues. (3 working hubs are a making several dies) So stay tuned.

I think the doubling you see in the photo would be MDD.

To paralyse: It wouldn't be the first time PCGS has missed an attribution on the Kennedy half dollars. The photo you used in this post of the 66 BS DDO-005 (FS-101) from PCGS doesn't match the DDO-005, and I have never seen the marker that you describe and show on any stage, A, B, or C of the 005. See attached photo of TRUST from a 66 DDO-005.

The half dollar you show as the DDO-013 (FS-103) also doesn't match the listed FS-103. The FS-103 has much stronger doubling than the PCGS photo you used. See attached photo showing the stronger doubling on the eye and GOD of a DDO-013 (FS-103).
