I have a OBW 1955 p roll. I am curious to know what people think I should do with it. Open looking for a DDO? I know its highly unlikely that it contains a DDO. The wrapper says Fidelity-Philadeplhia Trust CO. Are there certain rolls that are more likely to have DDOs?
Rest in Peace

Watch ebay. It could bring a big price there.

I have seen them selling for $70-$100 on ebay. I am wondering if anyone knows about certain banks having a higher incidence of DDOs in their rolls.

Hopefully there is a date on the roll as to when it was processed. Since some Lincoln specialist say the DDO coin was released in late August 1955, if the roll was made before that, the chances would be 0%. Not all banks dated the rolls in 1955, but many did with a stamp to help with inventory control I guess, although I don't remember where I read that part.

So would I! If I did not, I would not be able to sleep. I would be obsessing about what was really in there.

So apart from the 55p issue, are people generally in favor of opening OBW rolls to look for high grade issues? It seems like OBWs sell for a little more of a premium than screw top and other kinds of rolls. Is that true in your experience? I'm just getting started.

As had been mentioned before on the forum, some ebay sellers have their own "OB Wrapper" machines and some vintage paper tubes, so expect about on the level of "unsearched" bags of lincolns,....you can also buy a lead seal device to make unsearched bags really look good. I would keep the roll as it is, dreaming impossible dreams, and not opening it until Karma says you need a dozen 55 DD.

I know what you mean. I have 4 unopened 2004-D Wisconsin Quarter rolls. I bite my fingernails everyday not knowing what might be inside

Got a pic of the roll? If you do open it, check the roll for toned coins, if you find 2 that are toned inside the roll it had been checked. I have bought tail tail rolls where one end would be toned and the other not, when I opened the roll and flipped the cent over it was toned, meaning someone flipped the end coin to make it a tail tail roll and probably checked the roll for varieties.

I have read the DDO's came from the New York area.

This roll comes straight from my grandfather's collection. He almost certainly purchased it in Chicago the year of its production.
