*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. Previously posted in Canadian Commemoratives and Non-Circulating Coinage (NCLT). ***Received $30 1% reward for past year purchased as a RCM Platinum Memeber, ordered 1 roll of 2018 $2 Special Wrap Roll: 100th Anniversary of the Armistice of 1918. Very curios on ratio between coloured coins and non coloured coins. So here it is. 12 pcs coloured vs 13 pcs non coloured. my roll had 11 coloured. I read on the Mint's website that some guy was really disappointed to receive only a single coloured coin in the whole roll.
The really funny part was the shipping - I ordered a roll plus one of the 'tri-fold' coin sets with both a plain and a coloured twonie. The box was delivered by courier. It was the size of a playstation. Must have cost a small fortune to ship.

I'm not the guy that complained about only getting one colourized Armistice $2 coin in my special wrapped roll, however I only got 1 colourized coin in the roll that I opened this morning.

Quatchi, really sad to hear that you only got one coloured and 24 non coloured from Special Wrap.
My friend opened hers, 3 coloured and 22 non coloured.

I called the mint to complain about only getting a single colourized coin in my roll. The mint rep said that since I had opened it, there was nothing they could do. This leaves me with one question. How was I supposed to know about the problem with this roll before opening it to find out?

After all, you are paying $30 extra for the paper wrap. That's the thing I don't get; why are people breaking up rolls that are selling for a premium because of the special warp. There is no difference between these rolls and those you get at the bank or at coin dealers. Just get them at the bank, or wait until they arrive at your local coin store. The premium for rolls without special wrap will be much lower than the $80 the RCM is charging now. I remember buying the Canada 150 colored rolls at Colonial Acres for a slight premium over issue. Then I broke up one roll to see how many coloured coins I got.

I finally got a few rolls at a show from a fellow collector with a bank connection, they seem to be all uncoloured version and the rolls are shrink wrapped, label on case was do not distribute until Oct. 15, still very hard to find at GTA banks. Since there is a 2 to 1 mix of colour to non, one should expect the special rolls to chalk full of colour versions. This case I saw had no colour version in any of the end coins anyway.

@john100
If the ratio is 2:1 for the colour:non-colour, you may have had a jackpot find.
I have been bouncing through banks here in the Vancouver area with no luck... shrink wrap or otherwise.

The 2 to 1 ratio is from the RCM own advertisement regarding this toonie. completely surprised that the regular bank rolls are or seems to be non coloured.

john100, did you actually open any of the roles? I believe they are all random in terms of colour and non-colour. Given the mintage is 2x more for colour, on average one should expect to find twice as many in a roll.

I have not opened a roll, but did see over 30 rolls of the shrink wrap not one end coins are coloured plus a dealer did open one it was all non coloured, maybe the RCM ad is wrong on the mintage mix

Maybe the RCM is saving the coloured ones for the exchanges.
