Toonie Edge Lettering - Coin Community Forum

I think if it was struck without the middle, the inner diameter would show some kind of sign of the missing material. Lets see what others think. unruhjonny Pillar of the Community Canada 514 Posts	Posted 11/23/2018 3:48 pm I don't believe any post-1996 toonies have had the loose center section, so I too am incline to believe it being missing is "post-mint damage"; As mentioned, the edge lettering does this... other countries don't seem to have this issue, so maybe this "error" (which all rim stamped Canadian coins have) make them uniquely "made in Canada" LOL Report this Post to the Staff

The US Mint seems to have edge lettering work without messing up the edge of the coin... at one point, I had understood that our mint was highly esteemed... but now they just print colours on coins to cover up that they only put out ugly plated steel planchettes...
