On the reverse, I am pretty sure that is Post Strike Damage ( PSD), from getting dinged.

Are those small gouges that have pushed the metal up? For all that to be in just one bay it would have to be pretty small. No idea how that would have happened in circulation

Just thinking, the bays would be raised on the dies so maybe small die gouges? Someone dropped the die before locking it into the minting machine? Who knows.

I'm with you Mark, all I can think of are die gouges in that area (bay) or random die damage.

Well keep in mind that anything that makes an incuse mark on a die, will leave a raised area in the coins struck with that die. The bays are the part of the fields. So contact mark on the bays/fields will leave raised areas on a coin. So that is what it is. Die damage, not PSD.

Thanks to all masters again. So Die Damaged is from the mint and PSD is from circulated?

I'm sorry, but I respectfully disagree with it being die damage. I think that it sustained this damage outside of the U.S. Mint.

I think it looks like die damage. Raised marks.

Thank you for the answer! I was wrong, but that's okay. Bate, I would keep it, since it's very unusual.

The fact that it's raised makes me think my earlier opinion of die damage could be right. I'd keep it, definitely not an ordinary cent in my book.
