I just opened a full $10 roll of these Denver mint quarters tonight and it appears each one (all 40 of them) is a variety of double die obverse and reverse coins. They appear to be business struck coins first time out the vault.

The concern being if all these quarters (D) are DDO and DDR, it will probably reduce their value.

I understand the thing to do is put them away until they're officially noticed.

Aren't they noticed now that you showed them? Are you going to submit it to CONECA?

Die deterioration. It always appears on the sides of the devices closest to the nearest rim. Machine Doubling can be on one side or the other or in multiple directions on the same coin. (MD does have any set rules. Because it is a machine issue after the strike, it does what it can do at random from strike to strike)

If you look on Wexler's double die site, you will see that almost all of the DDO's on these quarters are on the earlobe area. (usually the only area affected on these single squeeze areas are the centers of the designs)
States quarters:

So save your money. They are not DDO's.

Not a DDO - just some Die Deterioration Doubling.

Thanks all for the welcome. I suppose I could submit my find to CONECA, but don't have an account at this time. I'm just getting started and trust you all and this site may help me to prosper in 2019.

I'm still picking up the finer art of determining a double or triple strike from a worn die.

Is my find still consider a vaulable error I wonder? Some quarters appear to have sustained a considerable amount of scratching just being bounced around the mint.

Thanks again, ya'll.

It's a spender. Look here for info on types of doubling. Make sure to read the whole page http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/...Doubling.htm
