Good morning Coin Comunitity. I've stumbled upon an "interesting " looking dime. It has a shiny back and a "flat" looking color on obverse side (I thought front and back would look the same). Also, the rim seems to have been "grounded down" at 45 degree angle. Is it a garage job or are these common from mint? I've searched but couldn't find anything that looked like my coin. Btw the weight is 2.29-2.30g.

@errers and varietys thank you for your response. Also is there a limit how many posts I can make a day? I feel strange posting 20 posts a day. How difficult is it to spot double die with magnifying glass. I've spent couple hrs yesterday looking at coins with magnifying glass and now I'm seeing all sorts of doubles haha

Nope, there's no limit. You can post as much as you want. It's up to the member on how many times you want to post. If you're tired, feel free to take a break.

The beveling on the edge is the result of a less than full strike. The edge of a planchet is not vertical, more beveled with a rounded center. When it is struck it expands outward and makes contact withe the collar fist in the center. As the strike continued the center portion showing the reeding gets wider and the bevels smaller until in theory the bevels go away completely and the rim meets the reeded edge. If the strike ends before the edge is fully formed you get a coin like you have with bevels between the rim and the edge. If you go through a few rolls of coins you will find that this is fairly common and can be found on all denominations.
