Question About 1968 D Nickel - Coin Community Forum

twztwedflesh New Member United States 14 Posts	Posted 01/10/2006 9:53 pm I have been collecting coins for several years now. But a hard one to come across is the 1968 D nickel. I have come across 4, and my friend had been looking for one for 20 years. Until I gave him one. So is it odd or am I the odd one? Report this Post to the Staff

The mintage figures are a little low(91,227,880) as far as the normal mintages for non-S mintmarks goes, but you can buy a nice MS63 for less than a quarter at many coin shops and circs are worth, well, 5 cents!. It is also the first year that the mintmarks moved to the obverse of the coin. Maybe they were hoarded as a result of that change. Perhaps a Jefferson expert can explain it further!
