My grandfather was a well known coin collector appraiser etc.. back in the 1960's-1970's when he passed away I received some cigar boxes full of coins already packaged up graded and marked for resale or marked to keep.
In this collection was a 1950 penny that appears to be steel on the wheat side and copper on the Lincoln side g-pa has it marked as 1950 silver penny "ODD".

any info would be greatly appreciated.

by the way, Hello I am new to the site and hope to fit in and make friends.

Guessing that the one side was plated in an attempt to deceive, perhaps.

The purpose of deception is to make lots of money by misleading or deceiving the less informed.

@ZTjr, the point of the deception is that this may be a so-called Magician's coin--two cents were halved and then joined together. Usually when we see these posted on CCF, they are two heads or two tails, but I don't remember seeing one like this. The damage to both cents has destroyed any numismatic value, but as a curio it should have some value. I'd save this in a 2x2.

It may have been painted? But it looks real smooth to be that. Is there a seam on the reverse rim? They make magic coins using parts of two coins.

Look at the rim on the image on the left. You can see a double lines on the rim where the reverse was added to the obverse:

Note how they are made.

it does not appear to be two coins , but possibly could have been painted with some type of chemical. I gently scraped the edge and the coin appears to be copper although the silver did not come off?

What is the weight? If it has been altered, then it would be lighter in weight.

Interesting. I can't think of anything that hasn't already been suggested.
