Amazing.
Notice that there was no picture of the reverse of the slab.
That's against ebay's rules.
Obviously the slab has been cracked open and the coin replaced.

At first I thought it was just really murky toning mixed with a weak strike.

It looks more lustrous on NGC's site but that hair is nappy. Liberty needed a shower. https://www.NGCcoin.com/certlookup/2690812-006/65/

This is what it looks like in NGC's site. With all those scratches on liberty this is gem BU? NGC is a huge letdown...

You would have to see it inhand I guess. I have a morgan with similar toning. It's really hard to grade it. Mine is graded 64 in an old holder.

Doesn't look like I posted pics of it before. I'll have to dig it out and take a pic.

I think 65 is perfectly appropriate, to be honest. The close-up of the obverse is stunning.

Looks 65 to me. I'm not crazy about the ugly toning.

Not a huge fan of the toning, but I think this one could make 65.

That's an absolutely horrendous strike for an '87-P and the toning is original but detracting.

I would grade it MS64 at most, there are numerous nicks and abrasions on the cheek and bust, and it is at the absolute bottom end of eye appeal for a 64.

It does have one thing going for it, namely, that absolutely wicked obverse clash, possibly a scarce LDS VAM 14A without seeing the reverse.

Paralyse,
Can you point out the area where you see the die clash?

Kind of crude but you get the point.

Thanks for clarifying! But with these Morgan dollar vams, I just don't get it. I see the areas you have circled but I don't see any evidence of die clashes. I recently had my vision tested and I'm pleased to report that at 40, I still 20/20 vision.

How anyone can identify these on a coin under magnification, is beyond me.

I can see some hints of a clash if I zoom in.
