They graded it straight XF40. I bought it via online auction based on pictures provided. When I received it my thoughts were I most likely would not have bought this coin in the raw thinking it was cleaned. I did quite a bit of looking around and saw a few similar looking to mine also graded straight.

As someone who collected as a kid and rediscovered the hobby 30 years later I'm struggling a bit with grading. I have learned a lot from all of you here but still have a lot to learn. I am still hesitant to buy some coins in the raw until I get better.

Welcome back to the hobby! Your story sounds exactly like mine. Collected from 8-11 years old( I still have all those coins BTW). You are in the same position I was 2 years ago when I signed up for this forum.

Keep asking questions. You're in the right place. Keep participating and you will get a crash refresher course in numismatics.
