The seller hadn't made any mention of these ex-mount features on 4 points on the edge. They are all of identical size. Is this a feature of Napoleonic 5 franc coins or has it really been mounted once?

I can't seem to save my cropped pictures even though it clearly falls below even the old limit of 100kb so i'll have to describe in words. These features are oval in shape and occur before the star preceeding "Dieu", before "protege" and immediately after it, and immediately before "France". Weight is acceptable at 24.5g with some wear.

Hello sg93,

I've got a very worn (Good) 1808B Napoleon 5 Francs and it shows the same oval markings. I think they are part of the edge design.

Hi Rob, that's a great relief. Thought i'd be having to go through the trouble of returning. Thanks, and hurrah for my first Napoleon!
