Hi everyone, new here. I have seen this brought up before. But never seen the answer. I was given a bunch of coins and paper notes. In this group I found a 1941 Wheat penny with a similar shine like gold. Its lighter then all my other 1941's. It weighs exactly 3.00 grams. It's not magnetic. Also had a local jeweler have a look and do a scratch test the color inside matches the color outside. Any info would be great. Possibly was struck on something different?
Note the shine? That tells me it is plated. Looking at the face, I can see coin wear. So the coin was circulated for a time, then plated. Plating companies do this to show the quality of their work and put them in a bowl for advertisement.
