I was looking at books a million to buy a couple of books and folders for collecting. Since I have no idea what I'm doing what do you think about these?

Whitman coin folder Lincoln cents 1909-1940
Whitman coin folder Lincoln cents 1941-1974
Whitman coin folder Lincoln cents starting 1975

The official Red Book 2009
The Complete Guide to Lincoln Cents (David Lange)
Guide to coin collecting (David Ganz)

What do you think of this for a start?

Also when I go through these folders to fill them do you put any quality coin in the slots?
Rest in Peace

I'm not familiar with bokks a million but your picks look good. I usually use Brooklyn Coin Galleries. You might want to compare prices there. Usually when putting a set together from circulation you put any condition coin in the folder as you find it and then upgrade as nicer ones are found.

I also added Photograde to the list. I think this is all I'm getting for now.

If your roll hunting for your cents, do more than one folder to make it worth while. I started hunting cents, and personally I'm pulling all pre '82's, any years to check for errors, and any reds for folders.

Pretty good start on books. Books a million is a decent store wth ok prices. You save on shipping.

daveg131 has a great idea about getting multiple folders and filling them at the same time. If you have come up with a list of coins to look for then you also most likely learned about conditions as well. You can separate your folders to different types of grades (1. lower condition, 2. medium/average coins and 3. a very nice set) they do not have to be perfect but at least the collection looks the same for the most part.
