I read about all of your errors but I've looked through hundreds of pennies and haven't found an error yet. Granted I'm not 100% sure of what I'm looking for either. LOL

Can you tell me what to look for?

Also how do I tell which are red cents? Are the others called brown?

Sorry for not knowing anything. Thanks in advance for all of your help and patience.

The only dumb question is the one not asked

US Cents normally have the most "errors". I'd recommend looking thru a Lot of the past threads on die varieties and die errors. If you ever find a coin you are unsure of let us know.

Here's a website that has very nice detailed pics of some better known errors that you normally can't find in every day circulation. Coin Facts

It's pretty easy to find an error, but it takes time and effort to prepare yourself to find an error. There is much experience and wisdom here on the board to help guide you in your quest, grasshopper.

If/when you find one that you think is an error, use a mag glass and a good light to be sure and take some pics and post it up here....

You may also want to check out http://www.lincolncentresource.com/index.html and see what they have there as well. This site has helped me a lot on what to look for as well. This will give you certain dates to look mainly for, but any coin may be an error. The other thing I did was went and bought a book about error coins which also let me know of other things to look for. You do not need to go and buy it but may want to go to a look at a local book store and check it out.

Odds of finding them are impossible to say. I have been searching for 6 months and have found about a dozen out of a couple hundred dollars worth of cents. The majority of errors I find are 'easier' ones to find and not worth a lot but fun to find and a new addition to my collection.
