Hey gang, looking at a couple 69-s cents and noticed that the S on one is a good bit higher than the other. Note the
second mint mark is much higher than the first. All feedback is welcome. Not sure if it's just a different die or just some odd variation. Thank you all.

@DJD, hand-punched mint marks meant that the location was typically close, but certainly not exactly in the same spot. If you can find a mintmark that has been repunched or touching part of the date, then you might have a saver.

MM's were hand punched until 1990,so placement will vary.

OR you have a coin with a moving mint mark. And did you notice the difference in how they looked too?

Ahh the ol floating mint mark. That's some Illuminati stuff isn't it?!

I did notice the different "font" of the S. I think that may have been what drew me to the location difference.

008 is the only style S MM used in 1969 according to VV..

I don't think the font is different , I think the die was polished excessively thinning the mintmark. Could also be combined with a lightly punched mintmark.
