What would you grade this? You can't really see the full date but after researching the die characteristics it matches the 1862 S WB-101, WB-1.

To start off with you can see the top of the 186, so now you look in the 1860's range. Then you can look at the size and placement of the MM. That large size and placement was only in use in early 1860-1862. Then when attributing the Seated Liberty half dollars you match the date placement as well. For this one the placement of the top of the 1 to the bottom of the rock is .020" which can only be the 1862 S WB-101. The 1862 S WB-101 WB-6 has the same exact mm placement and size but the date is a little bit lower at .024".
This information is found the the Bill Bugert's "A Register of Liberty Seated half dollar Varieties" Vol. 1 San Francisco Branch Mint.
