1938 Jefferson Nickel, Grade? - Coin Community Forum

hockingzig Pillar of the Community United States 1450 Posts	Posted 07/26/2008 2:59 pm I just got this in change yesterday and know nothing about grading nickels. It looks to be in pretty good shape for its age. What say ye oh nickel experts(and non experts with a rational opinion)? Susanlynn9 Forum Mom United States 5877 Posts	Posted 07/28/2008 10:34 am I think this coin is VF20. All four pillars in Monticello are complete. While the pillars are generally accepted as the one grading point on these, I also look at the hair detail in Jefferson. The detail on yours definitely falls into what I feel would be VF.
