I will never be a numismatic gentleman since I always prefer my ladies standing and walking. Ever since I pulled my first
Standing Liberty quarter and
Walking Liberty half out of change I knew I was hooked on standing lady coins. Next on my list were the French coins with the seed sowing Marie Anne. Did she inspire the Walking Liberty design? Among the coins my dad brought home from WWII was my next love, the Romanian 2 lei of 1910-14 with a classic walking lady that can also be found on some Romanian banknotes. The British florin of Edward VII caught my eye the first time I saw one pictured in a coin book with Britannia on the prow of a ship, similar to the British
Trade dollar which in turn is very similar to the Italian series of 1911. The running lady on the Austrian 5 corona of 1908 represents "Fame" and looks to me like a grandma fleeing something. Please feel free to add your favorites.
