If it's a 1982 or later cent, it's a plating bubble.

It helps if you show both the obverse and reverse of the coin along with the area in question.

The most likely answer is it's a plating bubble from debris being trapped between the zinc core and copper plating and releasing gas. Next would be a die chip, but it would be in a very unusual orientation/location for that.

@Jp713, first welcome to CCF. Second, can you depress this "extra line" with a wooden toothpick? If so, then it definitely is a plating bubble.

Whether it's a plating bubble (most likely) or a die chip/gouge, it won't be worth anything above face. Thus Spence's suggestion to poke it with a toothpick is ok.

NORMALLY, with coins that have ANY collector value, we strongly discourage messing with coins (including cleaning).
