Can someone explain grease toning.....how do you do it? I paid $15 for this some time back. It didn't break the bank. But, I want to be able to spot it, before the bank comes into question...lol

Regardless of what caused the toning, for that price you got a great deal.

I think so too. A decent early 20s San Fran I'd put in any Lincoln book and a nice looking type set piece. But I'd still like to know how to recreate the effect. Purely for knowledge.

So any that look like this I should avoid paying for unless they're nice and cheap.

You shouldn't buy them even if they are cheap. This is a cleaned coin with little resale potential, sharpness aside.

I will buy them cheap and give them as gifts cheap to friend's children and tell them......you like it...Nice...now know they are fake toners and never get another. Teach 'em young.
