Decent old gal -- 1944-D Mercury dime. No toning at all, just lots of luster. Pretty good strike. Member ANA - EAC - TNA - SSDC - CCT #890 "Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossible before they were done." -- Louis D. Brandeis

Looks great to me! Are those hits or spots on the cheek? The bottom one looks more like a spot.

Top one is a nick, bottom one appears to be a darker area.

Great luster! I think that nick on the cheek keeps it to MS-65FSB.

PCGS graded this coin MS 65 FSB. It's in an old green holder (OGH.) I agree with the grade; according to PCGS's standards, one or two light nicks or contact marks are acceptable for an MS65 graded coin.

I agree that a couple of hits shouldn't preclude a gem grade, but the placement of the hits matters in my humble opinion. I would be more on board with the gem grade if the hits were less prominent. In any event, it is still a great looking coin. Congrats!
