The cap on this coin seems unusually strong compared to other strikes I've seen. Weighs 26.9 grams. Is 0.1 gram a normal variation from the 27 grams it's listed as?
Thanks!

26.9 is normal from 27, but this says 20. Are they only 74% pure?

1838 GoPJ coins are always sharply struck.
The "10Ds 20Gs" stands for 10 dineros 20 gramos. In the fineness system, pure silver is 12 dineros and there are 24 gramos in a dinero.(10 20/24)/24=.9027 so the fineness is .9027, slightly over 90% pure silver.
Nice coin and it's a keeper!
