Hi guys I haven't visited your forum in a few years but I've squirreled away a few questionable pieces. This one is weird There is a line under the 8 in the date there is multiple rims and faint reading the Mint Mark definitely looks RPM there is obvious doubling on the front in liberty but not as pronounce as the reverse with the R in America and pretty much throughout. I'm detailing this off the top of my head so I may miss a few details. There also seems to be either additional material on the bottom right of the memorial and... Well I hope my photos are good enough because it's the best my phone can do :)

Reeds are raised. Coin damage on the edge leaves incuse lines. Also why would reeds appear on a cent. That tell me the coin may have been altered.

Thanx Coop I did briefly consider that because of the many things that are wrong but mostly because if the extra material I noticed on the top right of the memorial but it's not really a key date so I didn't think anyone would waste their time. So it's your opinion that it's been altered?

The line inside the '8' is a die scratch. At one time the die scratch may have extended longer. But they flatten faster in the open fields. Semi open areas, its lasts longer. Inside a device, they last the longest. So that is not damage.
