Hello Everyone,

I have a friend that just found what appears to be an 1816 1/2 Real. Can anyone confirm whether this coin is a rare variation or crude counterfeit? The coin's bust doesn't seem to match any of the examples on the Heritage Auction Coin site.

Without knowing much of this stuff: it could be 1/2 real struck in Zacatecas, Mexico.
It is in Krause as Mexico/War of Independence/Zacatecas KM#73.1

I can't tell if it's counterfeit or not.
