There are two different obverses -- the reverse is the same on both.

What does that mean?
Modern fakes?
At least I didn't pay much for them

Yes - modern fakes I'm afraid.

"Fake" would really only be the appropriate word if there were genuine coins that looked anything like this. There aren't any, hence hc's use of the word "fantasy". It was concocted, not copied from a real coin.

Fake and fantasy coins have been pouring out of China for several decades now, though the rise of ebay has made selling them to a worldwide audience much easier.

Doesn't look at all like a regular coin, but interesting nonetheless..

Sure doesn't look real. Haven't seen these particular ones earlier, but I agree that they must be fantasy pieces.

They do appear to be fantasy pieces.
The writing is of the very old style - probably Ming or Tung Dynasty.
The figures on obverse are from that period.
The reverse does not make sense:
Reading top to bottom: 5 picture empire/king
Reading Left to Right: 3 picture empire/king
I think most if not all coins from that period were copper.

Some of the old Chinese coins were also made from iron and lead, but yes, the point is, such coins probably did not exist then.
