I'm confused about the attached coin.
On the Obverse there appears LUD XV (Louis 15th)
French for sure. But on the reverse there is the
2 headed eagle (Austrian).
No date - which helps alot!

see reverse: "Civitas Cameracensis" is Latin for "City of Cambrai"
The "Double Eagle" brings to mind some eastern European empires, but it is the municipal arms or badge of Cambrai: see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambrai for a coloured version.
Apparently, the arms under Lud.XV are still in use today.
The legend Lud.XV dates the coin, or jeton, but the rest of the legend on the obverse differs from the legend usually seen with that king. Perhaps this has local significance ?
I don't know enough to say whether this is a coin, a jeton, or some other category of medallion; but in any case, it's a nice looking piece.

Don't know much about these. Just like to look things up.
Here it talks about France entering the War of Austrian Succession in 1743. Maybe it has something to do with that.

Here is one similar to yours.

All,
THANX for the info.
It does appear to be a Jeton from around 1740-1750. I could not find exact match - but similar.
