G'day, I can't see the fault you describe, but there is a species of error called a "lamination flaw", which is the result of using a flawed planchet. A metallurgist might explain better than I how that comes about. Peter
I see streaking throughout the coin, so it might be as Peter says--a planchet defect. From what I've heard, these are due to bubbles or impurities in the ingot, which are spread out into the layers when the ingot is rolled into planchet stock.
