I'd be interested to know your results.

I've got an old worn Large Cent, Draped Bust that I've dated to *around* 1796-98 but I can't get any more precise than that right now.

One day I'm gonna get a scanner and try to upload some pics on this website for some help. But in the meantime I'd be very interested to follow your progress.

Depending on the size it is either a penny or half penny. Looks like the date reads 1872 to me.

From the obverse the style of Victoria dates 1860-1875.
Staring long enough ( I have no life) - I think I can make out the '7'

Bah.. with my poor eyesight I can only just about make out a 2 in the colouration of the copper..
