Hey all, so I was playing a card came with my kids when we came across this weird penny. It looks like a Wheat penny except for the silver color and weird ring around the outside. It looks like a bad forgery more than a misprint or did someone add it afterward. Hope ya'll can help, thanks and Merry Christmas

looks like a bezel to me, around the edge..someone probably wore it on a necklace at some point.

Welcome to the CCF.
Just a betzel around the coin to make it into a piece of jewelry. Should be able to remove it.
The Lincoln Cent has been plated silver.

Terminology corection-
Currency is Printed.
Coins are Minted.

To CCF! It would be considered Post Strike Damage ( PSD), because all of this happened after the coin left the U.S. Mint. You can still save it, since it's a Wheat cent, but throw it into your cull pile.

A card game with coins and or jewelry pieces. Works for me, the kids need to learn how to play.

Seems encased in a coin sized (jewelry) bezel. Hard for me to confirm type of plating and bezel from an image. I'd check with a magnet and then, if not attracted check for any hallmarks on the bezel. I not only collect coins, but also silver, be it scrap or not, it is also on my list. Thanks, Doug.
