I have this 1964 D Kennedy half dollar with the RDV-001 straight G reverse. There is only one other DDR for this reverse type and this one doesn't match. The stars above the word HALF DOLLAR appear to be a lot thicker in areas and the FG initials appear to be thicker at the tops. Also the lettering on HALF DOLLAR does appear to be a little thicker. I have also included pics of a normal 1964 D RDV-001 for comparison. Perhaps I am splitting hairs here but they are different. I have also taken in consideration the fact that it is silver and a much softer material and it very well could be circulation damage. The coin in question starts at the first pic then every other one after that. Thoughts?

I do see extra thickness on the FG initials. It could be a minor DDR, but we'll see what the other members think.

Try this when making side by sides. Cut the images from the same outside edges of the stars and size them the same. That way the sizes of the devices will be a better comparison. Also make sure both images are rotated exactly the same before cutting the width on the outsides of the stars. Without them being cut exactly the same, we don't have a reference point.

Mr. Coop, I do not posses the imaging software for that. I have an iPhone with a magnifier. Maybe one day.

Well if you can keep you images uncropped, I can edit them to what I need to see. You can send them to me if you like or just post them here. It is easy to crop, but try adding back on what was cropped off? That is tougher. The reason I mentioned uncropped is that If I need to rotate an image, some of the image will not be showing if the image if cropped to closely. So it make is easier for me to rotate and then crop. That would be greatly appreciated.

I sure will. I have my phone in one hand, a magnifier in the other trying my best to hold still.

I don't think your half dollar would be a new DDR. Just using the designer's initials, I looked at 10 RDV-001's (straight G) 64D's in my collection. I found 6 of the 10 that matched your extra thick FG, and 4 that matched the thinner FG. The difference between the two is the die state. The 6 are all EDS, and the 4 are LDS. So, I conclude the thinner initials have been partially abraded away. Below are two photos of the FG's I used, EDS the LDS.

Thank you, Larry. I thought I may have been splitting hairs. I think what made me post this actually was the stars above HALF DOLLAR.
