I am trying to learn to grade MS Morgans, so I would like to start working my way through some of my MS Morgans and posting them here. I would love to hear reasoning for your grade.

I'll just do 2 or 3 per day so as not to overwhelm the sub-forum with my topics. As I feel like I'm improving on my grading, I will only post questionable ones.

It is so frustrating to have such beautiful old coins and not even be able to justify getting them graded. Most of the common ones seem to need to be 65 or higher to even grade.

ms64. near gem but a couple of hits to the cheek keep it from there. full luster but the two small oxidation spots on the cheek don't help it because of location.

Ok, perhaps that came out wrong. Clearly, from the acquisition side, it is great that they are so affordably collectible in high grades.

Its just that when you hold such a beautiful 140 year old coin that looks like it just came from a mint, and then you realize that if you pay $30 to get it slabbed, you could sell it for $60, it just seems wrong. Its similar to these lovely european coins from the 1500's and 1600's that are nicely preserved and still only worth $20.

In the end, these are admittedly 1st world problems, and I didn't want to sound like I was complaining.
