Ok what is your opinion?

With the 1st years silver set in the State Quarters 1999 becoming worth so much what about this years last set will they also go up allot I value?

I know in 1999 they did not make the single silver set for the State Quarters but also in 2001,02 and 03 they did not and they are no worth as much as the 1st years.

I have heard that usually the 1st year of issue and last will go up allot what do you think?

I am not sure myself, but feel they may go up a little more that the other years.

Generally that can be the case with older stuff, but not necessarily......hard to say with the State Qtr. series.....there are some other factors coming along with these.
My opinion is that the first year and maybe a "low mintage" year will always have a premium of some kind. The last year ?.....that is unknowable. We just have to let time pass and see !

Maybe we need to let 100 years go by to really tell !....

I think that anyone that really wants one of the 2008 sets will get it from the mint. Not everyone that wanted the 1999 set got one from the mint; and many probably had no idea they could get them directly until after they sold out.

I think the price of the 1999 is driven by those playing catchup to the game. The 2008 will probably not gain much value. The fact that one can purchase just the Statehood Quarters or just the Presidential dollars makes it even less likely that there will be high demand in the future.

Of course, this is just my opinion.

The only thing I'd add is that, I myself was not aware of the U.S. Mint Website until a couple of years ago. I could never have gotten anything "directly" in that way. And also, there will always be people "new" to the game who want certain material 10 years after it has already been out. There are people not born yet who will be coin collectors and pursue stuff that we pay little attention to or don't think much of right now.
But, as I've said......I think the "1st year" will continue to drop and obviously then the "last year" will not carry much sustainable value at all.
The Mint is really "de-valuing" EVERY coin they make with the repeated new designs on everything and the composition changes, etc. etc........so that alone will ruin things......let alone the attraction and value of the collection of these "new coins"....IMHO.

True, but I think the SHQ has created a unique phenomena. I feel that the percentage increase of new collectors in 1999 will probably remain a record high even twenty year from now.

IMHO, the current round of incentives, like the Presidential dollars and 2009 Lincoln Cents, do not add much since the SHQ craze is still rather fresh. They really should have taken a break before doing the next big thing; they might have found it become more popular and by extension profitable.

Jbuck.......

Here's something that you don't know.....

In 23 years there will come a new Director of the Mint and combined with Congress they will Legislate a NEW STATEHOOD SILVER DIME !...(now necessary because our "Territories became States"!

Ha Ha....seriously.....I agree with that statement and have said almost exactly the same thing several times before. They are putting out too much, too fast, too soon !
What is it ?...170 million estimated coin collectors (in large part due to the SHQ series).......where will all of these "boom baby collectors" disappear to ?......and will they bring their children into the fold, even though no "exciting new coin series" is starting or is as interesting to them ?....when they're old enough will they bring their friends in ?......what is the duration of these people who are included in this "boom" ?.....are they "lifers" or just "part timers" ?....
Just a few thoughts and ponders without playing devils advocate or even a disagreeing opinion really.....

i believe the 2008 set has some potential. with the price of silver and the overall condition of the economy, the mint is probably not going to sell as many as usual, meaning less released. when the economy bounces back, more people will want the complete set, bringing the demand for 2008 up.
