At first glance, it looks like a cheap Chinese fake.

If you're lucky it's actually gold. Aside from that that's all you can really hope for

If you take it to a jeweler, he can tell you if it is gold, and maybe he will buy it from you for scrap. Extremely unlikely it is not a fake.

It is also extremely unlikely it is solid gold.

You can buy this counterfeit from a certain place in China for $1.17 with FREE shipping halfway around the world.

That's because there is ONLY ONE genuine coin in existence.

I sent you an email with a link to where you find a non-genuine example, just like yours. We don't post that information on this board.

Let us know what the jeweler says.

Yes, it's definitely a counterfeit. The question is whether it's made of gold or cheap metal.

If someone hadn't scraped this replica, likely to discern if it was plated, it would have made a decent jewelry item.

It's funny you posted that. Just last night I went to purchase some coins off of craigslist and after our original deal was done he pulled out "grandads stash." It seems in the last year there has been a rash of fake gold and cc dollars, always check your raw Morgan's/ peace's with a magnet!
