Is this unclad on obv & rev? I think there is a Cud on rev. I decided to weigh the penny and it weighed 2.43g. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

It's Post Strike Damage ( PSD) unfortunately. The Copper plating has been artificially stripped off with some type of chemical. On the reverse, you don't have a Cud. That's Zinc Rot starting to set in, since the Zinc core has been exposed to the air. Here's what a real Cud looks like, if you want to know. http://cuds-on-coins.com/lincoln-ce...s-1980-1989/

I have examined many of the photos on the link you provided. This really helps. Two questions: When there is pitting on an unclad coin is it always chemical? and Do all Cuds form from the rim? Your time and help are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Jimwrites, the newer Lincoln Cents have been plated with Copper since 1982. To answer your second question, Cuds (Rim Cuds) can start of at the rim, and when more coins are struck, they get bigger in size (progression), and the void eventually starts to affect the die face, causing a missing void of metal to be created. And to answer your third question, is there a lot of good and reliable websites to learn proper terminology. I'll give you a few. http://www.doubleddie.com http://www.coppercoins.com http://www.varietyvista.com Here's the last one, which I use all of the time and help answer questions on CCF. http://www.error-ref.com

I have added it this time, but you should include the date, mintmark, and the denomination in your titles.
