Or flattened with a couple pieces of leather altered the devices and not enough to enlarge the coin. Dryer Coins tend to roll over the rims so much that sometimes it covers part of the edge devices:
1971-D-LMC,-Dryer-Coin-Or-Something-Else?
Reducing the diameter of the coin and making the rim taller than normal.
